After moving from Chicago, where she was born and raised, to Southern California, Tera McHugh developed an online consulting business helping women to improve, balance & enjoy daily life. After a few years she decided to take that business to the "real world" to do workshops and seminars, however, she didn't know anyone in her new community and wanted to connect in a big way.

Tera was looking for a group for women business owners in her local community and couldn't find what she was looking for. Being a Type A personality she decided to start the group she was looking for. The Women Entrepreneurs of Santa Clarita Valley (WE of SCV) launched in February 2006 with 12 women and a mission to connect women business owners dedicated to building relationships focused on business growth and development. Within the first year this group quickly grew to over 130+ members and Tera realized she was on to something!

Month after month the Featured Speakers that would come from across Los Angeles to speak for the group would tell her that every community needed a group like WE of SCV. Tera took a few years to research how to expand the organization and in February 2009 she launched the Association of Women Entrepreneurs. All while perfecting and systemizing all the tasks to run a group. She then developed a training program to teach other group leaders how to start and run a successful group in their local area.

Many women service-based business owners have decided to stand-out in their community by starting their own local women's business development organization and have affiliated their group with the Association of Women Entrepreneurs! Each affiliated group must qualify & WE ensure they meet the high standards of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs. Our mission is connecting women dedicated to building relationships focused on business growth & development. All affiliated groups must also:

host a monthly seminar event for their members featuring
an expert speaker on a business development topic
be open to all business owners at all levels of business
focused on helping members become better business owners by providing a forum for collaboration, education & support
